Ball of Confusion

This is for the Written Word challenge at Three Muses.

I went from thoughts of newspaper clippings to news in general, and pondered how we get over-saturated by bad news these days. I don't have newspapers lying around the house, so I started collecting terrible news headlines online and kept dropping them into layers (after a bit of formatting). Then I spherized them (spell-check doesn't like that word) and laid them over a globe. Then I did some swirly things behind it.

All the while, I had the old Temptations song "Ball of Confusion" running through my head. (You youngsters should look it up in YouTube--great song.) We were pretty pessimistic about the state of the world in those days. People still carry on as if the world is about to end. Did I mention we banned the news channels in our household about a year ago?

  3. I know a wise man who only watches the news once a week, so I applaud your blackballing the news. Why can't they spend equal time giving us good news?! I love the spherized concept! Nice work.

  7. Great idea to ban the news, Deb! It is so easy to let negative, even panicky, thoughts take over. Your art is so well thought out."Spherizing" must be one of those PS magical thingies. Very inspiring.xx

  8. Good work, Deborah. News is invariably Bad News, how on earth did this happen when there is so much that is good in the world?

  12. I think your collage is a great representation of how many people feel about the news! We have a similar news ban in our house. We both look at the online news, only when we feel like catching up for a moment, but then we are almost always sorry we did. I don't honestly remember the last time we watched the news on TV. You did an excellent job at capturing the sad confusion that poses for news these days. Bravo!!

Wishing you a blissfully un-informed day!
    Betty
